Vancouver, BC -- Wavemakers™, a developer of voice optimization software, today announced an agreement
with Johnson Controls Inc. that will have their WaveBeam™, ClearStream™ and EchoBlock™
software embedded in Johnson Controls’ Bluetooth wireless-networking solutions.
Together with Johnson Controls, Wavemakers joins Intel, IBM, AT&T Wireless, Gentex
and QNX to provide innovative telematics solutions and services.
In competition with several other companies, Wavemakers was chosen to bring its
expertise and core technology to solve the challenges of the real world automotive
environments. Wavemakers’ compelling solution not only provides improved automatic
speech recognition (ASR) but also improves hands-free cell phone communication
with noise and echo canceling technologies. This was a significant factor as Johnson
Controls’ Bluetooth solution leverages automatic speech recognition to enable
customers to use hands-free, voice-activated dialing and communications with their
Bluetooth enabled cell phones.
Marty Kadletz, telematics platform manager at Johnson Controls, commented, “Wavemakers
was selected after a detailed comparison against a number of other companies.
We are very impressed with their knowledge of the noise mitigation in the automotive
environment and their associated technologies, and are confident in the skills
and abilities of their team and the contribution they will make to the success
of our projects.”
“Wavemakers and its staff are proud to have been selected by Johnson Controls,
and are excited about working with their innovative products,” said Peter van
der Gracht, Wavemakers’ Chairman and CEO. “Our staff, and our technology, are
ready contribute to the success of the Johnson Controls’ telematics program and
we are pleased to have the opportunity to work with the other key partners to
deliver computing functions to new-car buyers.”
Up to this point, telematics has, in most cases, been an aftermarket add-on; however
automakers are now making commitments to factory-installing telematics into new
cars offering wireless communications and navigation systems.
